Phillip Hodges

I am a lead software engineer with many years of commercial experience designing and building highly secure and scalable applications and services (SaaS, IaaS) for use on multiple platforms and OS’s (Windows, *nix, virtual, AWS, OpenRack). I am language agnostic, enabling me to select the correct tool for the job. I am experienced in the complete software development lifecycle (Agile/XP) from conception through to delivery, including continuous integration.

I have good interpersonal and management skills, allowing me to plan and organise projects and teams of various sizes and abilities. I am also cool under pressure and adopt a “how do we fix it” instead of a “who’s fault is this” approach to problems.

I am a professional member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and the IEEE Computer Society.

Aside from software, I am also experienced in many areas of mechanical and electrical engineering and hold a full amateur radio licence.

Specialities: C/C++/C#, .NET, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, MsSQL, MySQL, RabbitMQ, Unix/Linux, Apache, ANT, database design, data management and processing, SOA, microservices and n-tier application architectures. Also a working knowledge of MVC design patterns and CMS frameworks.
